Despite early ending ending Twins get the Win

Texarkana, USA – May 29, 2019 – The Texarkana Twins start the 2019 TCL season off with a 2-1 win over the Baton Rouge Rougarou in a game that ended up being cut short. The Twins leadoff batter Ryne Randle started off the season with a single up the middle in the bottom of the first. Unfortunately he was then thrown out running back to first after a Bobby Lada fly ball to the right fielder. After that Lee Thomas came up to bat and hit the first homer of the season putting the Twins up 1-0.

Matt Foster got the start for the Twins tonight. Foster struggled through the first inning giving up two walks but was able to get out of it unscathed. After the rough start Foster then retired nine straight batters and had 5 strikeouts in the process. He pitched four scoreless innings for the Twins, but his defense was able to have his back. Randle had a nice diving stop to save a base hit and he ended up 2-2 for a leadoff triple in the third.

Bobby Lada then brought in Randle putting the Twins up 2-0. In the third inning. Logan LeJeune of the Rougarous, walked to start the fifth inning and then was brought in two batters by catcher Brennan Lambert making the score 2-1. Unfortunately due to the weather the game had to be called in the middle of the fifth inning, but since the game made it to the fifth inning the game will go down as a Twins victory.

The Twins next home game is tomorrow at George Dobson Field as they take on the Rougarous to finish this opening series. It will also be Teacher appreciation night at the ballpark where the Twins recognize all that teachers do. For more information and tickets visit texarkanatwins.com or call 903-294-PLAY.
