Twins take both games in the doubleheader

Texarkana, USA – June 13, 2019 – Twins sweep doubleheader against the Acadiana Cane Cutters. Both games were 7 innings and low scoring games with 7 total runs scored all night. The Twins had strong pitching in both games to carry them on the night that bats were not getting it down. Braydon Credeur and Joseph Standley were lights out on the mound for the Twins.

In the first game, it got off to a rough start when Ryan Carr, the first Cane Cutter batter, hit a solo shot over the left field wall. Tom Litchy had an RBI to bring in Reese Durand in the fourth inning to make the score 2-1.

The sixth inning is where the Twins took over the game. Lee Thomas was hit by a pitch to start the inning off. Tom Litchy double putting a runner on third. With runners in scoring position when Christian Boulware hit an RBI single to tie the game up. Steven Bonus drove in the game winning run with a sac fly bring the score to 3-2. Joseph Standley had a one, two, three inning to get another save on the season.

The teams then got a 30 minute break before game two started. The second game was all about pitching for the Twins. Braydon Credeur got the start for the Twins. Credeur pitched six scoreless innings with only one hit allowed and three strikeouts. With the game still tied in the fifth inning, Bonus walked and Blake Shannon came on as a pinch runner. Shae Gutierrez then hit a sac bunt to move Shannon over to second. As Shannon was attempting to steal 3rd then the Cane Cutters 3rd baseman missed the ball. Shannon got up and ran home putting the Twins up 1-0.

The Twins would add another run for security in the top of the seventh inning making the score 2-0. Then Standley came on to the mound to close out the game. Standley started with a walk and it was looking like the Cane Cutters might get a rally going. Standley shut that down quickly by getting the next two batters out. With the tying run at the plate, Standley had to get this last batter out for his fourth save of the season. Standley not only got that last batter out, but he struck him out to get the save.
