Texarkana, TX – July 15, 2018 – The Texarkana Twins split the pair of games that made up today’s double header after the Twins had to make up Wednesday’s matchup that was postponed due to weather. The Twins fell in the first game but were able to bounce back against Acadiana to win the second game of the double header.
Game one of the doubleheader saw a fair share of offense with both teams scoring double digits. The Cane Cutters scored in the first 6 innings, to win 17-10. The Twins did have some strong offensive performances from Jalynn Keyes who went 4-4 with an RBI and two runs scored plus Jake Grey who went 2-3 with two runs and two RBIs for the Twins.
The second game of the double header saw the Twins jump out to an early 5-0 lead as the team scored all six of their runs in the first two innings. The scoring in the first inning started as Cam Hill drove in Gunner Halter to give the club an early 1-0 lead. The Twins would then drive in a pair on a double as Coltyn Kessler and Cam Hill came in to score. The final run happened as Tanner Sparks drove in Matt McDonald on a double. The second inning was where the remaining Twins run scored as Coltyn Kessler came in to score on a stolen base to give the Twins a 6-0 lead. Four Twins pitchers combined to shut out the Cane Cutters pitching, as starting pitcher Colby Adkins set the tone for the team as they won 6-0.
The Twins now will complete their homestand tomorrow night against Acadiana as they complete the two game series.
