Texarkana is a city in Bowie County Texas, located in the Ark-La-Tex region. Named for its location on the state line between Texas and Arkansas, and with Louisiana just a short distance away. It is a twin city with neighboring Texarkana, Arkansas. Starting May 26, 2017 George Dobson Field, known fully as George Dobson Field at Spring Lake Park will be the home of the Texarkana Twins, members of the Texas Collegiate League. The field is officially in Texarkana, Texas, less than a mile from the Arkansas border.

Previously the ballpark was only in use for amatuer competition, most notably the Texarkana College baseball team - who since have dropped their baseball program. However, In 2008, George Dobson Field got its first shot at hosting professional baseball when it was the home of the Gunslingers of the Continental Baseball League. The fans flocked to George Dobson, and it was during this time that the Gunslingers became the best draw in the CBL for 2008. However, the success was short lived as the Gunslingers folded in 2009. This historic field was also home to a Major League Baseball World Series champion and San Francisco Giants outfielder, Hunter Pence.

Baseball has always had a presence in the Texarkana area. Starting in 1912, the Texarkana Twins were members of the South Central League. Since then the Texarkana Twins have had appearances in the East Texas League (1924-1926), Lone Star League (1927-1929), and the Cotton States League (1941).  In 1941 the team was affiliated with the Detroit Tigers.

The Texarkana Twins baseball team will be reestablished this 2017 Summer as part of the Texas Collegiate League. Clutch Entertainment Group announced that its second sports franchise will call George Dobson at Spring Lake Park its new home. Clutch Entertainment group owns and operates the five time TCL champions, Brazos Valley Bombers and the newly formed Brazos Valley Cavalry, a Houston Dynamo Minor League Soccer affiliate.

The Texarkana community played a role in the naming of the team. In effort to capture local excitement for the new team, Clutch Entertainment Group conducted a Name The Team Contest where residents logged onto Texarkanabaseball.com to submit their suggestions. The top 5 finalists were selected. To recognize the history of the Twin Cities, the team name Texarkana Twins was selected.

"We couldn't be more excited to become a huge part of the Texarkana community. We have quickly fallen in love with this community and historic George Dobson Field and can't wait to deliver our unique form of baseball and entertainment." - said Uri Geva, Team Co-Owner of the Texarkana Twins.
