Texarkana, USA(March 6, 2017)- The Texarkana Twins added more experience to the bench as Nolan Fanning will join the team as an assistant coach.
"It's definitely an honor to coach for the Twins organization. Texarkana is rich in baseball tradition,” said Fanning. “I'm from southeastern Oklahoma so I'm very familiar with the Texarkana area. The weather and scenery is beautiful and the people are great. I'm really grateful for this opportunity."
Fanning is currently a graduate assistant for the East Central University Tigers in Ada, Oklahoma. He spent his first two years playing baseball at North Oklahoma College-Enid where he reached the NJCAA World Series in his freshman season and was an NJCAA Academic All-American in his sophomore campaign. He played his last two years at Southeastern Oklahoma State where he earned the Crafton Tull Distinguished Student-Athlete honor as a senior.
Fanning is already looking forward to the summer and hopes to bring some enthusiasm and energy to the expansion Twins.
"Energy is a word I will use a lot of this year. With these guys just coming off 50 game seasons we will need to bring some energy to the yard every day! I'm going to bring a lot of passion and energy to this team. The way we play will be fun and exciting. The team we are bringing in should be a ton of fun. I'm really excited to get to Texarkana and start working with these guys."
The Twins will open their inaugural season on May 26th at George Dobson Field as they play host to the Victoria Generals.
