Victoria, TX – July 6, 2018 – The Texarkana Twins jumped out on the Generals early, and ended their losing streak with a 4-1 win. The Twins had some key hits, but their pitching and the defense behind the pitcher kept the Generals off the board for the majority of the night.
The Twins did their damage in the first half of the game, scoring all 4 runs in the first and fourth innings of the game, showing great patience at the plate. In the 1st inning Dylan Ditzenberger and Coltyn Kessler hit a pair of singles to get on base. Matt McDonald then, hits the ball to the third basemen which allows Kessler and Ditzenberger to both score off of an error. After the 1st inning the score was 2-0 until the 4th. Peyton Faulkner draws a walk in the 4th, advances to 3rd and then scores off of Jaylon Keys double. Later Kessler hits a single allowing Keys to touch home making the score 4-0. The score remained the same until the 7th inning when the Generals loaded the bases and the Twins gave up 1. This brought us to our final score of 4-1.
Cannon Davis did a great job as the starting pitcher for the Twins, giving up only 2 hits in six innings and zero runs. That would be more than enough to earn the win for the Twins. Relief pitcher Gage Burns only pitched for a part of an inning and quickly learned it was not his night, giving up a hit, a run, and multiple walk. Austin Sache closed the game giving up zero walks, hits, and runs. The pitching and the rest of the defense kept the Generals from scoring through out the entire game, clinching this win.
The Twins will finish the two-game series against the Generals tomorrow night in Victoria, before heading to Bryan to take on the Brazos Valley Bombers.
