Twins Complete Second TCL Season

Victoria, TX – August 8, 2018 – The Texarkana Twins looked to defeat the Generals and move on to the championship series, but came up short. The Twins attempted to rally in the 9th but too little too late. This completed another successful season for the Twins who made memories of a lifetime for fans, players, and staff throughout the season!

The Generals jumped out on the Twins early scoring one run an inning for the first three innings with a home run in the 1st and 3rd inning. This gave the Generals a 3-0 lead and great momentum going into the 4th. The Twins answered back in the 4th when Coltyn Kessler put the ball in play allowing Caleb Lassaigne to score off of the fielder’s choice making the score 3-1. Tanner Sparks steps up to the plate and slugs out a triple bringing Kessler across the plate. This closed the gap for the Twins making the score 3-2.

The Generals push their lead further in the 5th giving them a 3 run lead making the score 5-2. The score remained the same through the 8th inning. In the top of the 9th the Twins tried to get the bats going but only managed to put one run on the board. Sparks started things off with a walk, advanced to 2nd base from Hunter Southerland’s single, and to 3rd off of a wild pitch. Sparks then scores off of another wild pitch which brought us to the final score of 5-3 in favor of the Victoria Generals.

Brendan Dunkleberger was the starting pitcher for the Texarkana Twins going for 4 1/3 innings facing 21 batters giving up 6 hits and 5 runs. Jesus Gamez pitched for 1 2/3 innings giving up no hits and no runs, striking 2 Generals out. Austin Cree and Brett Lorah pitched an inning a piece facing 8 batters collectively giving up 1 hit, 1 walk, and 2 strike outs.

This concludes the 2018 season for the Texarkana Twins. The Twins ended this season with a final record of 20-34. “Everything we have been able to accomplish this season could not have been done without the support of our fans. While tonight did not have the result we were looking for, the team showed heart we created numerous memories of a lifetime this season on and off the field,” said Twins owner Uri Geva. They look to return next year stronger than ever as they take on their 3rd season in the Texas Collegiate League.
